How fast time flies by...

So I am already in my second semester... half way through actually! It is amazing how fast time flies when you are 'having fun'.*

So an update until now:

  • I passed all my classes in the first semester! (yay!)
  • I am taking 4 classes this semester and two of them are pretty hard (Materials and Sustainability and the second part of History of Art)
  • So far I have not gotten a mark lower then 70% and most of the marks are 90% plus!
I might actually be able to do this and finish in just over 2 more years!

*Depends on your definition of 'fun'.

Okay, I lied...

So I didn't post later in the week... I apologize. Things are crazy. You forget how much teachers want from you. And it doesn't help that I started working overtime at the same time I started school.

So I am two weeks in and what a time it has been. There is so much to learn and so much to process... Textiles is turning out to be a great class... I am learning so much! Colour Theory think is my favorite so far, only because it reminds me of art class in high school to a degree.

I am really looking forward to an assignment in my Intro to Interior Design class. I get to analyze, Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House in Chicago, a building that I love! I had read a biography many years ago about Frank Lloyd Wright but didn't really understand the concepts... Now I have a new appreciation. :)

So I apologize if it is a couple of weeks before I write again..... Just too much going on!

A lot happens in a month!

I did not realize that it has been almost a month since last posting....

In a week I will be knee deep in school! So busy with getting ready plus work but it is all going to be worth it!

I will post more later this week... I should be working right now :)

Yay!! Books!!

I am so excited!!

I received my text books for the upcoming semester and a late birthday gift (the one on the bottom)! I think I now have all of Ching's books... I know I have a lot anyways.

I have already read the first chapters of all of them! ...I'm nerdy and I know it :D

I am most excited about my textiles class... The book is well written and the subject matter is just really interesting to me. It controls so much in design and everyday life. I can't wait to learn!!

If I wasn't ready for this before I am definitely ready now. :)

Money, Money, Money, MONEY!

I guess I have been out of the loop too long. I forgot all the random fees and things I need to purchase for school. Thankfully I have an amazing support system behind me. :D

I have been thinking a lot about budgets lately.... Probably because I have been working on a lot of proposals for work and thinking forward to the actually projects and what we can do with the limited budgets provided.

I have always found it funny when someone comes in and asks for something done quickly, for cheap, and is of good quality. I was taught that you can have two of three things. Fast, Cheap and Good. So something Cheap and Good isn't Fast and something Fast and Good isn't Cheap.

It is sad that finishes and furnishings are the last things purchased in a project. Usually when a project is running over, sometimes for unforeseen issues, they are the first things to go. It is definitely going to be a challenge for me in my career.... and probably school!

I'm Going Back to School!

So I am returning to school after 2 years of working full-time!

I decided that this would be a great opportunity to record my Journey. Not just for me but for anyone considering joining the field or that has interest in the field.

The nice thing is that this time I have received a lot of credit for my previous education. (For those of you that don't know me I took a 3 year Program for Architectural Technology and I am currently working in my field as a Junior Technologist).

My goal for the next 2 and a half years is to continue working full-time and attend enough classes that I am considered full-time. (9 hours a week of classes).

I start my online classes (Thank you internet!) July 10th!

I will keep you posted on everything as it happens!

Wish me luck!!
